Cox's Bazar, the most popular & visited tourist destination in Bangladesh . It is known for its wide sandy beach which is the world's longest natural sea beach. In Bengali this Cox’s Bazar is called Kôkso Bajar or Kôks Bazar. Once, it was known by the name "Panowa", the literal translation of which means "yellow flower". Its other old name was "Palongkee having some historical background with Mughal Prince Shah Shuja. The modern Cox's Bazar derives its name from Captain Cox, an army officer served in British India .

Cox's Bazar town with an area of 6.85 km², is located at 21°35 & prime 0 & PrimeN 92°01 & prime 0 & Prime E / 21.583333°N 92.016667°E / 21.583333 92.016667 and bounded by Bakkhali River on the north and East, Bay of Bengal in the West, and Jhilwanja Union in the south.
